This blog is about my garden and the outdoors. I am new to photography but I am trying to show some of the pretty things that grow here in Michigan. I love the wild things who visit me and I dont mind if they eat a bit here and there. I like it more if they let me take their picture. As time goes on I think I will try to show you around the beautiful area that I live in as well as my garden. I try to use my own pictures as much as possible but will also use pictures from the web. If I inadvertently use your photo or work without permission please email me and I will remove it or give credit if you prefer. I will give credit when I know who the owner is. I would ask that anyone using my pictures do the same.

After the Rain..............
Anyone guess what this is?
A daisy.......they are workhorses in the garden. They do not seem to like my garden. I replant every few years
This is one of the plants from last year, I was not expecting it to come back but here it is.
Old fashioned Day Lily........so reliable and really so pretty
Some lovely colours in the garden today. I keep taking pictures of the lily but I cant help it they are awesome
I love the colours of my hydrangea
I am not sure what this is called, its tall and bright scarlet. Looks like a bird of paradise......from one picture I found this is what I found Crocosmia 'Lucifer'
The Yellow daisies are just coming out, soon there will be clumps of them.
Oh yes and the close up picture, this is what it was.

Another day in the garden.................
Well not a lot going on out there really. I now have so much work to do but its been too hot. My potted plants have come to the end of their life really. I usually replace them but its not worth it yet. Everything just shrivels up. We need rain bad. Anyway, here are a few pictures of whats going on at the moment. The Day lilies are doing well. I have not seen any butterflies this year. Only one white one.
This little critter came to see me. It was cute watching his eyes move
I love this colour, these are in my neighbours garden. I took this picture because mine has not bloomed yet
This is a white bloom on one of my Hosta plants. Most of them are a lavender colour
I love the colour on these Day Lilies. I was very happy with all of them this year. I bought a couple of new ones and I think that I will get more, they do so well.
The wild ones spread all over the place but are still so pretty
My fish are doing well. Getting quite fat. I hope they live another year. They have good hiding places in the pond now and they play. If they live another year I may even give them names.
This cheeky devil is still around. Its a wonder because the cat is on the warpath
I need to get some plant stakes, maybe this weekend. Right now everything is floppy and I just cant get out there while its so hot. Its bad enough just getting everything watered. So enjoy these few pictures I am ready for something new...........not really much coming on. The next thing looks like it will be daisies, the yellow ones and that takes us into the Autumn shades. Sigh.........I hope ita a long cool Autumn.

visitors in the heat..............
Dog days........wonder why they call it that? I mean dogs lay around all day even when its cold. My lot do anyway.Well with a heat index of 101 degrees I have to be sure the birds and wee beasties have enough water. I see the Chipmunk is back, or at least one of his offspring. The cat knows it too so this one better be smart.
My first picture is of Mrs Robin who seems to be collecting nesting material.....hmmm. She already has a bunch of kids following her.
One of her kids is out back in a mud puddle. Just like a kid huh!!!!! and squabbling with a Grackle for the spot.
While the female is sprucing up. The Mr is stuffing his face
Meanwhile I found out who raided the bird feeder and scarfed the lot
He is going to have to cool it. I dont mind feeding him but he hoards it instead of eating it. Thats not fair to everyone else..
I liked the colours on this picture. A Day lily and little lavender bells
All around my garden I have dishes for the birds and animals. This is a good way to use old dishes or garage sale finds.
This little Chickadee prefered the fountains cool water though
Some of the colours are beautiful together
The Day lilies continue to blossom
The bee balm is pretty and I am hoping it will attract a few butterflies, they have been scarce this year.
A very small flower on the Hydrangea
I am off to see whats new out there tonight............its so hot it may be a quick trip

Hot days, dog days.............
This is a very hot July, beach weather. Thats where I will be today. I did get some pictures last night though and here are a few.
The Poor Grackle was wet, must have had a shower or a dip in a bird bath he looks frazzled.
The day lilies and other lily are so pretty this year. They are blooming in profusion.
Lots of lovey colours
Close up of the yellow one
Much more colour in the garden now
I didn't know the Bee Balm came in different colours. I didn't buy different colours.
I love the mix of colour
The butterfly weeds in yellow and orange are still growing brightly. I found some Campanella and hope I can grow that, we shall see. They do not seem to like the heat.
Pansies hanging on barely.
Painted Daisy, I liked and bought some more. I hope they will do well
I like it when a plant thrives and gets thick on the ground.
Wild Hydrangia
These yellow daisies are pretty but they are so tall and stringy they fall all over the others. I must find a solution.
All for today............I have to go water before I take off for the day
