I just had to go out to take a few pictures. The sun on the leaves out there this evening is fantastic. Like someone turned on spotlights. Then suddenly it's dusk. It gets dark quickly these days. It's going to be time to change the clocks very soon. I wish they would just leave things alone. Ah well, doesn't make much difference to me one way or other.
The leaves on the trees out back are yellow.
I went out to the road to get pictures both ways, The neighbours dogs were outside and had to check me out
Yellow is the dominant colour today look at the gold in the Oak trees
Meanwhile out back, the Blue Jays have discovered that I filled the feeders......I like the Blue on Blue.
It looks like the local Squirrels have camped out in the closest tree. Little buggers just eat so much
I caught this one chowing down out front on things they are supposed to eat. Acorns.
Meanwhile inside, a couple of my African Violets are blooming,
My plant Jason gave me years ago bloomed when I brought it in so must be happy
I have found places for all the ones I needed to bring inside, now they need trimming back and tucking in for Winter.
"At least once a day stop long enough to allow yourself to be truly amazed by a tree, or a flower, or the sunlight dancing on land or sea. This is a sacred space, the place within us where we are witness to the ongoing miracles of life." ~ Marianne Williamson
This blog is about my garden and the outdoors. I am new to photography but I am trying to show some of the pretty things that grow here in Michigan. I love the wild things who visit me and I dont mind if they eat a bit here and there. I like it more if they let me take their picture. As time goes on I think I will try to show you around the beautiful area that I live in as well as my garden. I try to use my own pictures as much as possible but will also use pictures from the web. If I inadvertently use your photo or work without permission please email me and I will remove it or give credit if you prefer. I will give credit when I know who the owner is. I would ask that anyone using my pictures do the same.

Shades of Red.................................
This week the dominant colour in my garden is red. Beautiful brilliant red in Buds Maple and my Chinese Maple. They shine with raindrops and sparkle in the light. The garden is wet and sulky today I only went out to get a few shots of the pretty colours.
It has taken some colder nights to reach that brilliant colour. When we were up north yesterday the dominant colour was yellow and lime among the Evergreens of dark green. I love the Tamaracks bright gold among them.
Not just the trees, today all shades of red are around the front garden.
A lot of the flowers now have red in the leaves
The fallen ones leave a swath of reds among the golds and browns
Apples red and rosy will feed the deer who venture into the garden in the dead of night.
Even when not much is going on out there, there is usually something to see.............so today I will leave it with Red

Birds coming to my garden in October..........
All Summer we didn't have birds coming to the garden. This month I have seen more and more until the last couple of days when I have seen quite a few.
The Cardinal comes in the evening usually. Since I have (tried) kept the cats inside it seems that my garden is more popular.
Today the Mrs came as well.
It was good to see the tiniest come back. Today and yesterday I have had the pleasure of seeing Titmice, Nuthatches, Blue Jays, Chickadees and a Thrush. Finches, ones with yellow cheeks, yellow finches too. Some are so quick I can't get clear pictures but I have surely tried.
Blue Jays seem to always pose better than most.
The Nuthatches are real flighty and don't sit still. They also like the hanging feeders and are always on the wrong side. we have two kinds of Nuthatch. White bellied
...and red bellied. The red ones are smaller. I am trying to figure if the duller ones are female.
No I am not a Platypus......
I forgot to mention the little Woodpecker. Well this little bugger has been tapping around our windows driving the cats nuts. I tried to get pictures of him tearing into the soffit by the roof. He also had a go on the porch too.
But today he was having a go at the two stumps by the gate
The Tufted Titmice were a pain and would not sit still but I did get a couple of shots.
Chickadees are always here even when no one else is........but they are so busy it's hard to capture them.
While in the midst of enjoying the birds Chippy comes along. Good job the cats are inside.
This guy is a rare visitor here. I saw some a few years ago and not since so was really happy to at least get one picture.
Always here are the Mourning Doves, they are not as sweet as they look and will sleep on the food so no one else can get it. Even Blue Jays are wary.
I don't have too many of the finches they didn't come today but were here yesterday. I have been corrected, these are White Throated Sparrows.
Sometimes I get a lot of pictures of bird feeders with no birds because by the time the camera clicks they are gone. Sometimes I get a blur of feathers.
Maybe if I had a faster shutter speed it would be a cool picture
I played around with some of my images and quite liked these results.
Thats it for today folks. Trying to watch "The Walking Dead"...........
