This blog is about my garden and the outdoors. I am new to photography but I am trying to show some of the pretty things that grow here in Michigan. I love the wild things who visit me and I dont mind if they eat a bit here and there. I like it more if they let me take their picture. As time goes on I think I will try to show you around the beautiful area that I live in as well as my garden. I try to use my own pictures as much as possible but will also use pictures from the web. If I inadvertently use your photo or work without permission please email me and I will remove it or give credit if you prefer. I will give credit when I know who the owner is. I would ask that anyone using my pictures do the same.

Looking forwards to Autumn,,,,,,,,,,,,

The change of season has been in the air for a few weeks now. You can smell it in the dampness and crisp morning air. Almost but not quite frost just yet. Time to start to bring in the indoor plants. A nice rain today will nourish them. Then to get some potting soil and some containers to put them in and its time..............not a job I enjoy. I am always afraid of bringing in critters I don't want to house for the winter.

The above is not my picture naturally. I can't wait to be able to get out and take my own pictures. Right now the colours are not changing. Just slightly, the rain wont help. What we need is dry cold nights and sunny cold days to set the colours off to the best advantage,

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow..........
Thou comest, Autumn, heralded by the rain,
With banners, by great gales incessant fanned,
Brighter than brightest silks of Samarcand,
And stately oxen harnessed to thy wain!
Thou standest, like imperial Charlemagne,
Upon thy bridge of gold; thy royal hand
Outstretched with benedictions o'er the land,
Blessing the farms through all thy vast domain!
Thy shield is the red harvest moon, suspended
So long beneath the heaven's o'er-hanging eaves;
Thy steps are by the farmer's prayers attended;
Like flames upon an altar shine the sheaves;
And, following thee, in thy ovation splendid,
Thine almoner, the wind, scatters the golden leaves!

Soon the time for hay rides, apple orchard tours, toffee apples and cool days with bright sunshine. Sunflowers and pumpkins

Soon be time to rake the leaves. Not a favourite job for any in this house. Still a way off though by the looks of things.
I will work on getting my inside plants ready to come inside.

This is my favorite time of year. Our trees have not really started to change too much either-although I have "never" seen them quite as colorful as in the photo you showed.

I was admiring the quilt-did you make it?

Of course, I love the sunflower pictures--I'll be showing off the mixed media one I made today on my blog--although I went in another direction then beaded.

Happy 5th to Tristen!

Hello Janice!
I sure enjoyed my visit here tonight as I sit by the fireside.
Fall arrived just on time here in Colorado, and our colors are stunning this year. We have been blessed with much moisture which allows the aspens to have a dark peachy color on their tips, gorgeous indeed!
My summer has come and gone much to quickly as I have been busy helping with the needs of my aging parents. I have missed my blogging community friends.
Nice to see you.
Sweet blessings to you.
Joy! Debbie
