It has been so hot and humid that the garden is sadly neglected. I have been trying to keep an eye on it but just can't stand it out there. We are supposed to have some cooler days with less humidity so maybe this week I can get out there at least in the mornings.
I will show a few pictures.
The Day Lily are sparse this year but still pretty. Nothing has done well.
They are such pretty flowers
I have what is becoming a wildflower garden. They seem to like this area and are spreading so I will just put in minimum effort there.
In a couple of places some things came up from seed. I was going to throw them out but, now they have flowered I think I will transfer them to the garden.
No idea what either of them are but they are prickly
I think I can rehome them. I have been watching some Sunflowers grow from bird seeds and think this is where they originated. Hey if it's pretty it's welcome in my garden.
Those things need shoring up. They droop and need something strong to hold them.
Some of the daisy like flowers are opening up. My little helper today
My dark vine has bloomed, I guess the pink is an earlier one so thats sort of nice.
Everything needs feeding again...........my veggie gardens this year is a dud. I have very few tomatoes and 3 zucchini so far,
So a disappointing year for everything, but.......maybe everything will catch up during the Autumn.
This blog is about my garden and the outdoors. I am new to photography but I am trying to show some of the pretty things that grow here in Michigan. I love the wild things who visit me and I dont mind if they eat a bit here and there. I like it more if they let me take their picture. As time goes on I think I will try to show you around the beautiful area that I live in as well as my garden. I try to use my own pictures as much as possible but will also use pictures from the web. If I inadvertently use your photo or work without permission please email me and I will remove it or give credit if you prefer. I will give credit when I know who the owner is. I would ask that anyone using my pictures do the same.

Sad Garden..............................
Oh my, so sick of this heat. It makes me ill. The garden looks so sad. Needs so much work but I just can't stand being out there.
So today Gerry said "shall we go for a walk over by the State Hospital. At first I said no it was too hot. He said well it's probably OK under the trees and so we went. I DO need the exercise after all. So off we went. Ugh......
Well it may have been shady, mostly, but it was HOT and HUMID and buggy. We walked as far as Kids Creek. That was enough for me.
So
This creek is the same as the one over by Michaels and where we saw the deer. It meanders all over the place.
We headed home. I just didn't want to go anywhere else. This weather is miserable and going to be in the 80s all next week. High 80s
I took a quick look around my wilting garden after the sprinklers were done, they had not been on long enough. Tomorrow they will have to run all day by the looks of the curly leaves and dead branches falling out of the Maples. However I did have one little visitor that I enjoyed. He posed for me so I got some good shots.
I love the light on his wings
I think how horrible it must be for the birds and wee beasties at least I can get away from it. Remember to leave water out for the birds and animals folks.
When you look at these tiny miracles it makes my day. Look at the details on the wings. The hair on the body. I saw his eyes moving? watching me unafraid.
The Day lilies are blooming and those too are a miracle when you really look
These purple bells are one of the banes of my garden existence. I love them but.............they are invasive in the extreme. I try to keep them controlled. Thats a full time job right there.
I didn't get many pictures today, the little dragon fly took up the time I was willing to spend out there.
So for today that's it. Time for bed and try to get some sleep ugh!!!

July garden..................
My lovely flowers on the deck are wilted and sad looking. They do not like the heat any more than I do. The grass needs mowing so bad but it has to wait another day. I guess the mower had to be charged (No idea why he does not plug it in when done, then it would be ready) Anyway, taking a walk around I notice maybe it's not quite as bad as I thought. It"s untidy for sure but a little pulling of the invasive ones and some trimming of branches and some pulling of weeds should set it to rights.
Thing is so many leaves falling off the trees because of the storm/wind the other night makes it look worse. I don't want to be outside that long at the moment.
Not a lot to see but each day another bud opens.
A lot of yellow
But the pink ones are looking a bit fresher today.
My Lavender may just live, still not sure but it seems to like this spot better than anywhere else I have planted Lavender. Still spindly but maybe next year?
There were a couple of visitors.
The bronze and red is what I see quite often now. Sometimes others. It's a question of timing on my part. I think they have a schedule. Thank goodness for Daylilies.
Why only one? There are a few daisy types about to flower but it takes so long to establish. I need to fertilize again.
These Butterfly plants are about to open, I wonder if the orange one survived? I am not seeing it.
The Poppies never bloomed and the Several other things seem to have died off.
In the Herb garden the Chives are blooming, I think this is the garlic chives
The Rose that refused to move is flourishing. The part I moved did not survive. Pity that as it would have been nice where I put it. This came back and is doing really well so I guess it will stay. I will prune it back and try to keep it short
The Geraniums that I overwintered have buds. I think this year I may repot them and bring them in again. I wasn't going to but I can put them up in Tristens room, maybe they will like that.
Not much else to see. I do need to trim the Mountain Ash tree up a bit, it is making too much shade for the garden but that can wait till it cools off,
I will leave it a few more days to see what else comes out, there are lots of buds.
