This blog is about my garden and the outdoors. I am new to photography but I am trying to show some of the pretty things that grow here in Michigan. I love the wild things who visit me and I dont mind if they eat a bit here and there. I like it more if they let me take their picture. As time goes on I think I will try to show you around the beautiful area that I live in as well as my garden. I try to use my own pictures as much as possible but will also use pictures from the web. If I inadvertently use your photo or work without permission please email me and I will remove it or give credit if you prefer. I will give credit when I know who the owner is. I would ask that anyone using my pictures do the same.

Spring....................

Today its raining, is it Spring? Well it's still the middle of March and the weather man says it's going to get cold again real soon. We had two good days working out in the garden this weekend and got a lot of clean up done. I also found I have a lot of plants already that I didn't plant last Fall. Yippeeeeee because I can't afford to buy much this year. I have to get some good ideas.

Things are breaking through, the earth is still hard and somewhat frozen but the plants are stuggling and pushing up.

Bessie is enjoying being outside. She explores the garage quite a bit. She discovered she does not like rain. When I am out there she pops up now and then to see what I am doing.

Boots still has her nose out of joint and ignores her.

So far they both hang out around the immediate area. Although I did see Bessie having a face off with the cat across the alley that Boots does not like.
I got the wood chips down and they sort of stand out right now, they will soon blend in. I need a lot more to finish the back, and have not even started the front yet

At this time of year everything looks so bare. I cut all the hedges down in the hope they would thicken up. I also want to give a bit more light to everyone else.

Snowdrops are happy and the rain helped them to Pop. The Cardinals showed up and enjoyed the seed on the ground.

I am sure everyone is nesting at the moment. The feeders are left alone at for now. Time to clean them all up for later. I am hoping that the nasty pile of snow will melt by weekend with this rain so that we can really work on that area and decide what to do with it.
Some plants made it through winter so a few less to buy.

Will the sun come out today? It was foggy this morning. It's cold though. If it would just warm up just a tad more..............but think the weather man said its going to get cold again. Brrrrrr...........come on Spring.

We are suppose to get colder too and get some snow! You have done a lot of work! You work fast girl! I won't be getting any earth, wood chips till around the end of April. Our season for growth, doesn't really start happening till May. I threw out 3 hostas last year! Wish I hadn't of! I want them now! LOL! I should have left them! You never know when you will be needing some plants! Great pictures Janice! When I'm outside, I think of it as play too! LOL!

You have lots coming up in the gardens already! I noticed just yesterday that my snowdrops have come out too ... the only thing I see that is up out of the ground so far. Your place is looking great with the woodchips all down. We're getting fairly warm weather right now, but wet. Birds are busy at my feeders too, so I keep the seeds coming out regularly for them. Have a great week!
