Rainbow in my garden...............

Well it was really the sprinkler but it was pretty wasn't it.? So are the flowers.



Had a Robin visit us today.Not sure what she was up to but she was busy.


The Day Lily's are thriving and they are still really pretty.

I keep taking pictures of them because they is sooooooo pretty


The yellow ones are beautiful

The Black Eyed Susans are blooming


They look lovely with the blue ball

The Poodles were enjoying the sunshine and Tristen's absence haha


Meanwhile next door, Bud planted some pretty flowers, I think from seed. So next year I am going to scatter some seeds in my flower beds and see what happens.


This Day Lily is blooming and its in the back garden. I must get some more for next year. I think they do so well and are so showy that they really give the garden some colour

This is a poodle obviously up to no good. Look at that face........guilty....don't know what of but it's something

I can not believe this only has one flower on it. Must not be in a happy spot. I must see about moving it.

Well thats it for today.................wish there was something exciting going on but nothing............ah well. All for now.

Robin's Nest.................

We have our annual Robin's nest on the front porch. There are 3 existing nests that they seem to rotate. The middle one is the chosen one this year and she has shored it up and refurbished it. I have yet to see her sitting on it but have seen her visiting. So maybe they are still in the process of making the nest habitable. This is one of the pair complaining of my arrival just as they decided to drop in on the nest. I continued on to the front garden and ewwww .....there was the Robin hunting for a worm and was hot on the trail, not inclined to leave either so I got quite close. She looked at me as if to say, this is a BIG one and I am not leaving till I get it. Oh gag.....and it was. It was a very big juicy worm. I could not look, even though I took the picture I had to leave. Pity those babies have not showed up yet, it would have fed them for a month. On a brighter note the Cardinal hubby was out back being nice and eating seeds. He and the little wife I pictured the other day in the apple tree, have a nest in the front Blue Spruce. Here she is to remind you, what a lovely couple they are................ Meanwhile Mrs Robin was back on her nest. Maybe I should light her up at night so she can see..............nah....don't think she would appreciate that. Looks like the lights have to stay for a time yet.

Spring has sprung.......

Well its official, Spring has sprung. We saw our first close up of a Robin today. We had heard them and seen them from afar but these two were looking for worms. They were also courting. So........soon be nesting time.







Its good to see the snow melting and the grass getting green. I will be looking for the crocus and snowdrops any day now. It is still March so with such a mild winter, I wonder what the Spring will be like.
Here is a Starling who was hanging out with the Robins. Look at that wicked beak.


They are so pretty, why are they so disliked? Must be the personality. I know we had a female nest in our eaves. What a ruckus. They were so noisy and we could not remove the nest until the babies had left and by then she was having a 2nd batch. We did, in the end manage to remove and seal the end of the eaves up so she was thwarted. The previous year she had nested all summer and must have produced her own flock. They don't come around much anymore. She must have found a better nesting place.
I also took a picture of a Downey Woodpecker who was drumming on the electric pole

Its a wonder he didn't bend his beak

I did this post on the 14th and today is 15th and here are the snowdrops.

Amazing how a days sunshine can just pop things out like that.

Robin Redbreast...........

Robin Redbreast.....cheeky chap
Will eat the lunch right from your lap.
Garden friend on spades he rests
Proudly showing his bright red breast.
Awaiting worm or maybe bug
Examines the ground the gardener's dug.
He fixes him with beady eye
unafraid, he does not fly.
Follows him to each new chore
Always hoping to find more.
He knows the man goes home to rest
and so he flits back to his nest.
Another day comes to its end
A day spent with his garden friend.
